Metal Braces vs. Ceramic Braces

Modern dentistry has seen the rise of many materials used to construct braces. Two of the most popular options that a patient has to choose from are ceramic braces and normal, metal braces. Choosing which one you want is up to you and your orthodontist. One of the pros of having ceramic braces is that they blend in well with the existing teeth.

For people who are worried about how they might look in braces, this can be a deciding factor. For Invisalign patients, this is also a key concern. While the ceramic will not stain, sometimes the plastic ligatures will stain. Ceramic braces are also more expensive than metal braces. They are also larger. Finally, straightening teeth with ceramic braces may take slightly longer than with metal braces.
